Picture of Kay LittleJohnWelcome.  My name is Kay LittleJohn and I live in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee with my partner, Daniel Bigay.  I’m a web site designer/developer.  I love the outdoors, family, my culture, storytelling, good food, and laughter.  Living life.

My partner is a Native American artist.  He makes flutes, carved shell necklaces, carved gourds, etc.  He is also a musician with several released CDs.  We attend various fine art shows around the country selling his artwork and meeting lots of interesting people along the way.  To see examples of Danny’s work, check out his web site at: http://mountainspiritflutes.net.

As I mentioned above, we live in the mountains.  Actual, we live in the Blue Ridge mountains that border Tennessee and North Carolina, where the Appalachian Trail runs. Our ancestors called these mountains the Blue Wall. If you were to see these mountains from a distance, you would understand why.

There is a creek that flows in front of our house and it is called Paint Creek.  One of the reasons the creek is called Paint Creek is due to the fact that there is so much ochre rock in and around the creek. In days gone by, ochre rock was used to create paint by our ancestors (Cherokees) that lived in this area.

We know most of our neighbors that live near us and they are good folks.  We live right on the road, so our neighbors stop by on a regular bases to say hello and see how we are doing.  I know this sounds unusually today when we have email and blogging, and as nice as these things are, it is wonderful having good folks stop by and visit with you and share the news of the day.

We live a good and simple life here.  It is a beautiful place with lots of plants, animals, water, birds, etc.. Life in abundance.

I hope you enjoy my blog.
